How to Measure Your Wall for a Wallpaper
Before we start producing your custom wallpaper, accurate wall measurements are essential. Follow the guide below to ensure a perfect fit and flawless installation.
1. Measure the Height and Width
Use a measuring tape to record the full height and width of your wall. Measure at several points, as walls may not be perfectly straight, and note the maximum height and width to ensure complete coverage.
2. For Multiple Walls
If your design will cover more than one wall, measure the maximum height and then add the total width of all featured walls.
3. Include Windows, Doors, or Slopes
When your wall includes openings or angled sections, measure the entire wall as one rectangle, taking the highest and widest points as your reference. This ensures complete and seamless coverage.
4. Overlapping System for Seamless Results
Atelier Merien wallpapers are produced with a 0.5-inch overlap per panel — the most precise method for achieving a perfect join. This overlap makes installation easier, ensuring panels align smoothly without visible gaps.
During installation, the overlap can be trimmed using the double-cut method, creating a flawless, continuous design across panels.
5. Allowance and Production Adjustment
You don’t need to add extra inches to your measurements. To make installation simple and accurate, we automatically produce your wallpaper a few inches wider and taller than the size you provide.
This extra allowance helps with easy positioning and trimming during application — simply cut away any excess once aligned for a seamless finish.
6. Custom Wallpaper Made for You
Each Atelier Merien wallpaper is crafted to your exact wall dimensions, printed panel by panel for effortless alignment and professional-grade results.
